Background
Horizon Pack and Ship is a family-owned shipping and business services company with two locations in Kentucky, one in Radcliff, next to Fort Knox, and one in Elizabethtown, about 15 minutes away. Founded by a military family and identifying as veteran, woman, and minority-owned, the business offers package shipping, mailbox rental, printing, document shredding, and other business services at both stores.
Challenge
For a small business without a dedicated marketing team, winning in "near me" searches is often the difference between a customer walking in the door or choosing a competitor. Without regular local rank tracking, there was no way to know how either store was actually performing in the searches that matter most, or whether efforts to improve visibility were working.
Solution
Horizon Pack and Ship used Local Falcon to track core "near me" keywords at both locations on an ongoing basis:
- Consistent rank tracking campaigns for both stores across shared service keywords like "shipping near me," "document shredding near me," and "mailbox rental near me"
- Ongoing, mostly bi-weekly, tracking, giving a reliable read on visibility trends over time
- Falcon AI reviewed reports automatically, analyzing competitors, surfacing optimization recommendations, and flagging listing issues to help guide next steps
- AI search visibility audit across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews, giving a snapshot of how the business shows up beyond traditional search
Results
Consistent Google Maps rank tracking translated into real, measurable gains in "near me" search visibility at both locations:
- In Radcliff, visibility for "document shredding near me" jumped from 26 to 83 Share of Local Voice (SoLV), "fax near me" climbed from 49 to 67, and "shipping near me" rose from 35 to 53
- Average Rank Position (ARP) went from nearly 14, nearly invisible in results, to a top-3 position
- In Elizabethtown, the business more than doubled its SoLV for the highly competitive keyword "shipping near me"
- An AI platform audit turned up an unexpected win: ChatGPT frequently mentions Horizon Pack and Ship across several core service categories in both towns
For a small, family-run business competing in "near me" searches every day, these insights turned local SEO into something Horizon Pack and Ship could track, act on, and see actual results from.
