About This Research

How We Collected This Data

This data comes from Local Falcon's Q4 2025 scan database—over 50 million real Google search results from across the United States. We extracted every business that appeared in Google's Local 3-Pack and analyzed their review counts and ratings.

To ensure accuracy, we de-duplicated by geographic location, so each unique search context counts only once—preventing any single user's scanning patterns from skewing the results.

What the Numbers Mean

Entry Level (P10) — The 10th percentile. This is the minimum number of reviews you'll likely need to even appear in the 3-Pack. Think of it as the "entry fee" for your category.
Typical (Median) — The 50th percentile. Half of businesses ranking in the 3-Pack have more reviews than this, half have fewer. This is what a "typical" winner looks like.
Dominant (P90) — The 90th percentile. Only 10% of 3-Pack businesses have more reviews than this. These are the dominant players who consistently outrank competitors.

Important Caveats

  • Correlation, not causation: This data shows what 3-Pack businesses have, not necessarily what caused them to rank. Google considers many factors beyond reviews.
  • Location matters: Metro areas typically require more reviews than rural areas. Use the location breakdown for more accurate benchmarks.
  • Data evolves: These benchmarks reflect Q4 2025 and will shift over time as markets change.
